Hurricane Sandy came and caused enormous devastation, and now that it is starting to subside, the impact on the US is only beginning to be noticed. One area impacted is the topic this column is about. Comic books. Numerous publishers and creators are located in the greater New York area including Marvel Comics, Valiant Entertainment, comiXology, and DC Comics.

IDW Publishing, though located in Southern California, still will feel the hurricane's effects as super-distributor Diamond Comics Distributors is experiencing delays. Possibly releasing today at comic shops near you are seven new releases by IDW. Titles are scored on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the very best possible. We take the time to read these books so your time isn't wasted.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Issue 15

This issue was blessed with an outstanding build of threat and tension as a … cousin of the TMNTs reveals itself. The emerging threat was handled quite well, even if the rest of the issue was kind of slow. The dialogue and interior art are adequate. The various covers had varying degrees of quality.

Score: 7.5 out of 10

Ghostbusters - Issue 14

This series has the very best Ghostbusters series since the original movie. Much of this is because the story is well written and the artwork is perfect for the tale. What's nice about this issue is that hidden depths are revealed in characters that previously seemed to have only one note. Very impressive issue. A few minor typos marred an otherwise stellar issue.

Score: 8.5 out of 10

Godzilla - Issue 6

Giant irradiated monsters rampaging up the coast of California and psychic avatar twins made this one to the more fun issues in this weird series. The story is a bit disjointed but it's still pretty fun, as is the artwork. There is a major mystery happening but it seems like answers will be coming.
