Arguably, the biggest non-hurricane and presidential election news of the past week concerned the biggest gathering of pop culture and it's home for the near future. The event recently known as Comic-Con International, formerly San Diego Comic-Con, was rumored to be looking for a new home.

Have no fear, true believers. The convention's organizers have signed an extension that will keep the show in San Diego until, at least, 2016. After that, it's anyone's game as cities like Los Angeles and Las Vegas have been competing to be the newest hosts.

IDW Publishing has been to a lot of Comic-Cons as their offices are just north of San Diego, in La Jolla. In celebration, they've released five new comics this week. Titles are scored on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the very best possible. We take the time to read these books so your time isn't wasted.

Score: 6.5 out of 10
