IDW Publishing - New Release Reviews For December 12, 2012
New Release Reviews continues to focus on the business of comic books. The sales numbers are in for November 2012 and Marvel Comics dominated with 52 of the top 100 selling comics. Much of this was a result of the launch of the Marvel Now! line.
IDW Publishing placed pretty high with the release of its new My Little Pony series. Issue one hit number 15 with over 80,000 copies sold. The first issue of the new Judge Dredd series hit number 69. Perhaps one of IDW's seven new releases will chart in December. Titles are scored on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the very best possible. We take the time to read these books so your time isn't wasted.
Transformers Spotlight : Orion Pax - One Shot
What makes this historical story so pleasing is the small cast. Most Transformers comics are so bogged down by an enormous cast of characters. It didn't actually shed a lot of light on Optimus Prime, though it did delve into the guard over his mouth. Plus, it dug into the significance of the Autobot symbol, which elevated the story. The artwork is just fine.
Score: 7 out of 10
G.I. Joe - Issue 20
This issue is just one fight after another and it's a lot of fun. The military lingo is a bit much at points but the story doesn't get slowed down by it. And the cliff-hanger is great. Interior artwork is excellent and the cover is cool, not matter how off the anatomy is.
Score: 7.5 out of 10
30 Days Of Night - Issue 12

This issue seems to be the end of this story-line. It's not clear if the series is over or if it's just transitioning into the crossover with Cal MacDonald. Mostly, the issue is a big fight involving Eben and a very sweet flash-back. The artwork is moody but it works for the subject matter.
