Image Comics - New Release Reviews For January 2, 2013
Several image Comic properties have shifted from comics to the big screen and television such as Spawn and The Walking Dead. Recently, an original movie has been adapted into comic book form by DC/Vertigo Comic. On Christmas, the film Django Unchained was released into theaters. It's a virtual comic book in design.
This is one of the reasons writer/director Quentin Tarantino decided to create a comic book version of his movie. Tarantino mentions, in his prologue, how much he enjoyed western comic books as a kid. Perhaps one of Image's new releases this week might see its way to the silver screen. Titles are scored on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the very best possible. We take the time to read these books so your time isn't wasted
Invincible - Issue 99
The cover to this comic book prepares the reader for how big an event this issue is. It's big. And it carries over into issue. The creative team deliberately emphasized this one panel per page. It's an exciting story, filled with violence and calamity. It was a simple tale and that made it a bit disappointing as it seemed like not a whole lot happened.
Score: 8 out of 10
Black Acre - Issue 2
Everything about this series is just alright. Artwork. Cover. Action. Politics. Story. Just alright. The themes about class aren't very subtle and the physical conflict is confusing at points. Issues one and two probably could have been edited into one issue. Could have upside is the creative team get to the heart soon.
Score: 6.5 out of 10
Glory - Issue 31
It's remarkably sad that this wonderful series is rapidly coming to a close. Every aspect of this comic book fires on all cylinders. The cover is so bizarre it becomes awesome. The mundane smash into crazed adventure, effortlessly.
