MJ Tribute Planned By Family Divides Them

The King of Pop’s mother Catherine Jackson and siblings, La Toya Jackson, Marlon, Jackie, and Tito have announced plans for a tribute concert in Wales called “Michael Forever.” Unfortunately, other family members are not in support of these plans as it is felt that they are ill-timed.
It would be great and prove to be very exciting if all the family of musicians pulled together to performed a tribute to Michael, sadly this will not be the case.
Shortly after these plans had been announced, Michael’s brothers Jermaine and Randy released a statement publicly opposing the shows.
“While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death,” the brothers posted this statement on each of their Twitter accounts.
The jury selection is in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray is scheduled to begin in early September and last for at least four to six weeks.
Michael’s mother and siblings have made it clear that their intention is to be at all of the proceedings in the trial.
The trial surrounding Michael’s death is said to be televised.
It is quite unfortunate that the legendary Michael Jackson cannot find rest even two years after he has died. I’m sure I speak for fans everywhere in that we don’t want to remember Michael as being the instrument that fuels a family divide, the source of anyone’s financial successes (although he clearly has been) or the object in a dispute between a powerful family in the eyes of the world when it comes to entertainment.
This is a time where the Jackson family should be coming together, now more than ever. They are on the cusp of getting justice for the loss of their loved one.
This unfortunately is a loss that not only they suffered, but the world did as well. I’m not sure that anyone will really truly get over losing Michael Jackson. However, we can let him rest.
