Head of MTV, David Lynn, is spreading the word, "Expect the unexpected," for the upcoming MTV European Music Awards (EMA) this November in Belfast.

Incredibly, the show will broadcast to 1.2 billion fans via MTV's global network of 60 channels. Marketwatch refers to MTV's broadcast spectrum as "convergent programming," which includes an estimated 200 digital media properties around the world.

Richard Godfrey and Bruce Gillmer are the Exec Producers for MTV/EMA's 18th birthday. Last year's event in Madrid topped the charts with 22.2 million viewers, a considerably smaller sum than the expected 1.2 billion this year.

The show will be hosted by superstar singer/actress Selena Gomez, whose recent clothing line follows the new trend of A-list artist merchandising deals, clearly compensating for serious drops in CD sales.

Main stage is at the Odyssey, with multiple locations across Belfast, allegedly a first for the awards show.

Lynn's secrecy as to the A-list lineup in his interview with the Belfast Telegraph is usurped in Music Week and other publication mentions of the following lineup:

Lady Gaga
Jessie J
Justin Beiber
Katy Perry
Coldplay
Adele
Bruno Mars
Red Hot Chili Peppers
My Chemical Romance
Jennifer Lopez
LMFAO
Arcade Fire
30 Seconds To Mars
Arcade Fire
Far East Movement
Kanye West
Linkin Park
Wiz Khalifa
Kings of Leon
Snoop Dog
Foo Fighters
Beyonce
Eminem

Belfast's burgeoning music scene is the reason for getting picked over other European cities. funding comes from a variety of sources including the Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland Tourist Board and other commercial sponsors.

However, Belfast's strict laws on bars and clubs closing at midnite will drive parties underground.

Ticket information and competitions are available at MTV/EMA.

Count on a few satellites streaking across the sky as millions of smartphones will undoubtedly text and tweet in the billions--maybe even trillions.

MTV is tops in pop culture and is the child of Viacom Inc., a world leader in programming and content.

Official sponsors of the EMA show include Dell, Replay, Hyundai and Swatch. Dell's 4th year of EMA sponsorship reflects the convergence of technology and entertainment across the youth demographic.

The underlying technology infrastructure that makes such a global music event possible involves Hi-Def screens, JBL Speakers, and lightning fast processing power for downloading and streaming.

The show takes place Sunday, 11.6.11, broadcasting live on MTV at 9pm CET.
