The Seattle GLBT Film Festival:Dirty Girl and Elizabeth Manchester - Page 2
Sue-Ann, Danielle's single mom (Milla Jovovich) spends her days trying to be Suzy Homemaker with disastrous results and a snub from Good House Keeping. Her objective for this is Ray, (William H. Macy) a strong family value Christian man with a young daughter and teenage son who Danielle had sex with. Ray wants to marry Sue-Ann and adopt the wild and fouled mouth heathen as his own. He want to take his intended family on a Christian weekend retreat so they can begin leaving like a blessed unit.
His intended daughter has colorful choice words to express her views and disgust about this. Later, Sue-Ann begs and pleads with her daughter to comply with Ray who she feels is the right man for her and wants her daughter not to ruin this for her. After refusing to comply Sue-Ann banishes her daughter to an empty trailer without food or a phone and takes away the car keys then takes off for the weekend retreat.
Joseph goes to jail for the weekend while Peggy starts to get stronger and begins to pickup the pieces. After picking up Sue-Ann the two take off in search of their children and begin a journey of their own and start their own special friendship. This is where Dirty Girl begins to tell a coming of age story tht hits the road with the tales of trust, trails, tribulations, gay teenage love , a sexy stripper, and finding one's self that's pulsing to the beat of the late 80's pop diva soundtrack and exploding into a derisive jest at every turn that's becomes a wild ride that you don't won't to end.
Abe Sylvia directed this absolutely mind blowing road movie that's a great period film. Melissa Manchester produced this movie after reading the script that was filled with her songs. This is a word of mouth movie that needs voices to make it an success due to no budget for a advertising campaing and promotions. I'm using my review of this touching and endearing film to alert my fellow film lovers to support this movie.
