American Vogue August 2012 Issue Features Marion Cotillard
After an unfortunate July 2012, Anna Wintour redeems herself with a stunning cover for the august issue of Vogue Magazine. Photographed by Peter Lindbergh, Marion Cotillard looks effortlessly-gorgeous and stylish in a Burberry Prorsum quilted velvet coat, a look that is simple and appropriately evokes natural beauty, for he Age Issue. The Academy Award-winning french superstar is a muse to Christian Dior, mom to one-year-old Marcel and the indie reine of French cinema who conquered Hollywood back in 2007 with her magnificent performance as Edith Piaf in the critically acclaimed “La Vie En Rose”, and is now ready to for Blockbuster-Gold with the latest of the Batman franchise.
Inside the magazine, The many sides of Marion Cotillard converge in Peter Lindbergh’s photographs and Tom Shone’s profile, which together portray the irresistibly glamorous 36-year-old at a particularly transformative time in her life, as she graduates from La Vie En Rose to her upcoming blockbuster star turn in this month’s The Dark Knight Rises, while not only she learned to speak Polish (for James Gray’s still-untitled movie) and swim without the use of her legs (for Jacques Audiard’s upcoming Rust and Bone), but one in which she gave birth to her son (with French actor-director boyfriend Guillaume Canet) and was back on set almost immediately, to play the eco-businesswoman who lures a grieving Batman out of his Batcave. “She’s Superwoman,” says director Christopher Nolan, who was so intent on Cotillard costarring in his film that he adjusted his $250 million production schedule around her delivery hospital dates. But The fashion icon is as human as the rest of us as she confesses: “I’ve never been more exhausted. But I’ve never had more energy. This is the paradox of being happy. That’s where it comes from”.
