Ebook from The Fix: Courtney Comes Clean by Maer Roshan
Courtney Comes Clean: The High Life and Dark Depths of Music’s Most Controversial Icon is the first in a series of e-books from The Fix (“addiction and recovery, straight up”), written by Fix founder and editor Maer Roshan, with additional reporting and writing by Carmela Kelly, available through Barnes & Noble. Although Roshan was originally scheduled for a half-hour interview in 2010, his sessions with Courtney Love (via phone, email, and text) lasted a year and provided enough material for a book. The book is illustrated with an abundance of photos from Love’s tumultuous life.
In the course of the interviews, Love did not hold back, openly discussing her addiction, marriage to Kurt Cobain (and his death), and her relationships with her mother, daughter, men, and money. She also shared candid memories of Sean Penn, Scarlett Johansson, Brett Ratner, Kirstie Alley, Tony Robbins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Charlie Sheen, Kelly Osbourne, Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gaga, Pamela Anderson, Andy Dick, Winona Ryder, Oliver Stone and Chelsea Handler, among others. Despite the many dark periods in her life, Love continues to have an army of loyal fans. As for her friends…nothing is sacred if she feels she’s been crossed.
Love is often amusing, sometimes pitiful, and always blunt, as quoted in Courtney Comes Clean. She may not be the woman one invites to tea, but is the ideal companion for dishing the dirt. Love and gossip fans should enjoy her biting memories, others not so much.
