A recent article by StyleList, compiled a list of celebrities who look remarkably young for their age. The story, titled Celebrities Who Look 10 Years Younger, noted famously fit women like Demi Moore, Elle McPherson, Sharon Stone, Iman, Sarah Jessica Parker and Heather Locklear. All over the age of 40, these women’s fitness secrets vary from specialized diets to customized exercise programs.

It is possible to attain a fit and toned body even after reaching age 40 and beyond. Although the body’s metabolism is slower as we age, making permanent changes to diet and exercise can help to improve fitness and health. The secret, if there is one, is to make changes that you can live with for the rest of your life. But that doesn’t mean eating the same boring thing day after day or doing the same exercise routines.

On the contrary, a diet that stresses a variety of vitamins and nutrients will be much more enjoyable making it more likely that you will stick to it. In the same spirit, an exercise program that is lively with a mixture of aerobics and strength training routines will be much more entertaining and become something that you look forward to. These are the true secrets to attaining a healthy, fabulous figure.

Staying fit after 40 shouldn’t be reserved for celebrities only. It is possible to achieve the body that you desire even if you aren’t famous, yet! It takes commitment and dedication, but it is completely worth all the hard work when you reach your intended goal.

To make dieting and exercising easier and more successful, maintain a fitness journal of everything you eat and drink and all of the exercise that you do. A simple method that makes you accountable for your daily meals and activities, the fitness journal can be the inspiration that will keep you motivated to stick to your new healthy lifestyle.
