Is Kanye West Exchanging His Big Ego For a Big Heart?
Not unlike the Grinch, hip hop superstar Kanye West may have discovered his wee little heart has grown three sizes bigger after he stole singer Taylor Swift's big moment from her last year.
As most of you culturally aware folks may recall, Kanye burst onto the stage during last year's MTV VMA's when Taylor was accepting her award. As Taylor was attempting to give her thanks and acceptance for the Moon Man, Kayne appeared on the stage, grabbed the mike and went into a mini-tirade about how her fellow nominated artists may have deserved the award more. It was an embarrassing display of callousness and major lack of chivalry on West's part. For Taylor, she handled it as well as can be expected, and tried to shrug it off. Of course, the news cycles and late night show hosts had a field day.
Well, now that we are coming up on the anniversary of that disastrous moment, People is reporting that Kayne has written a song for Taylor and the two are slated to appear again during this year's VMA's. West tweeted about the song over the weekend:
"I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want her to have it. If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her."
For Kayne this is a bittersweet turnaround. West lost his mother in November of 2007 and seemed to be on a bit of downward spiral ever since, succumbing to the weight of his own massive ego, perhaps as a defense mechanism. Since last fall's major PR snafu, he's kept pretty quiet and maintained a low profile. It's nice to see that a bit of humbling humility has had a positive impact on West.
Now, let's hope it lasts.
