L.A. Paparazzi Warned: Leave Prince William and Kate Alone!
The sun is shining bright as two international stars prepare to touch down in the City of Angels.
Celebu-royals Prince William and his bride Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will spend three days in Los Angeles after wrapping up their first official visit to Canada.
They will arrive at LAX late Friday afternoon, July 8.
Although the royal couple with celebrity appeal has graced the cover of magazines from Vanity Fair to OK!, paparazzi have been warned to stay away.
The royal visit, which means to strengthen the ties between the United States and Great Britain and will focus on economic relationships and charity work, has been carefully planned and orchestrated. There will be limited mingling with A-list celebrities, but business and charity will drive the visit.
There are 50-200 photographers who will be allowed some access to the couple, but as UK photographer Stewart Cook told the Los Angeles Times, "I cannot for the life of me imagine them walking down Melrose to go shopping."
In other words, don't expect to see the couple strolling along the street hand-in-hand, looking into high-scale boutiques as if on vacation; the honeymoon is over and they are here to work.
The Los Angeles Police Department is ready for the expected influx of journalists and photographers interested in the event. Hundreds will have their proper credentials and be allowed access, but those without credentials have been warned not to approach the couple or any of the events.
There are many reasons to limit paparazzi access, most notably security issues and the palace's desire to control the royal families image, but associating a city ripe with paparazzi with the British royal family also brings to mind another painful image for most, that of Princess Diana, Prince William's mother, who lost her life escaping from them.
