Meeting Macy Gray
In late June, I had hit another high point in my journalism career – I was able to have a great conversation with the inimitable Macy Gray.
The story Chasing Macy Gray was very well received by all who read it – it’s one of my favorite interviews for a variety of reasons; I’m a fan of hers, I enjoy her music and I appreciate her uniqueness. There also seemed to be a trust and a mutual interest established on the part of both of us, she had questions for me on my career as a journalist. She was very in to the conversation – all this was great because she has been coined with the reputation of being shy or not very open during interviews. I didn’t find this to be the truth in our conversation at all.

Look, here it is folks. You are going to be reading the full account of a journalist who is still admittedly a little green, and also yes, admittedly star struck in having met one of the objects of my then teenage affection.
This full account will detail a unique evening with a unique performer who handled an evening that went awry in a very cool if unconventional way. After reading this, you will have a read about a side of Macy Gray that I’m not totally sure that any other writer has really tried to show the public.

I was in contact with her publicist, and her assistant – the latter being the main person I had communicated with from the start after talking with the publicist.Continued on the next page
