Robert Downey Jr. Stares Down Fans at Comic-Con 2012
Robert Downey, Jr., who plays Iron Man in the Marvel franchise, engages in a stare down with a room full of fans dressed in likeness of the superhero. The children surrounding the actor are clearly enamored in worship of the Marvel franchise. Behind Downey, the new Iron Man 3 suit is featured on its pedestal.
At Comic-Con 2012 International at the San Diego Convention Center in California, the Marvel franchise showcases its upcoming movie Iron Man 3. Iron Man 3, is set to debut at theaters on May 3, 2013. According to Downey at Marvel's panel at Comic-Con, he is at the end of his contract with the studio, but he might be willing to negotiate a second series of films as Stark.
The Iron Man 3 plot reportedly is based on a six-issue mini-series in which Tony Stark eventually undergoes the "Extremis" process, whereby a military nanotechnology serum turns him into a cyborg without having to don his Iron Man suit.
But don't worry because other heroes in Marvel's The Avengers franchise are slated for sequels. "Thor: The Dark World" is set for November 8, 2013. Also "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is slated for April 4, 2014.
