Ally Sheedy Is Citizen Jane, Now on DVD - Page 2
Jane soon learned that her bank account and the line of credit on her house had been drained by Tom. She discovered that he had made a trip to Vegas when he was allegedly going to Switzerland. Little by little, Jane and Detective Morris turned up evidence that implicated Jack in the murder, however, it wasn’t enough to prosecute. Instead he was prosecuted for fraud, sentenced to four years, served nine months and was back on the street. Jane was more determined than ever that he should pay for what he had done to Gertrude.
Citizen Jane is a true crime story that follows Jane (over a period of 13 years) from being the victim to being a champion for victims; she founded Citizens Against Homicide, and by the time of her death in 2008, she had helped solve 20 cold-case murders. Citizen Jane is based on the book of the same name, written by James Dalessandro who adapted the book for the screen, and was directed by Armand Mastroianni.
This Hallmark production is not a thriller or murder mystery in the usual sense. The focus is on Jane and her efforts to bring her aunt’s killer to justice, apparently at any cost. An interesting story, at times melodramatic, Citizen Jane is an absorbing tale of justice delayed. DVD release date: August 23, 2011.
