Mark Ruffalo Feels Ed Norton "Bequeathed" Hulk Role To Him
A couple weeks I wrote about the drama surrounding the new Avengers movie and Marvel's public hissy fit on Ed Norton.
Norton took over the role of the mean green monster for 2008's The Incredible Hulk, and had been the obvious heir apparent for the role in the new Marvel Avengers flick. That was, until he wasn't.
To make a long story short, Marvel Studios CEO dissed Norton, essentially accusing him of not being a team player and Norton responded with class and grace. Norton's out, which is a shame, but his friend, Mark Ruffalo is in and he discussed his taking over the part from Norton:
"I’m a friend of Ed’s, and yeah, that wasn’t a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation’s Hamlet."
Ruffalo, who has down pretty well in Hollywood playing quirky roles, mostly of the romantic leading kin, is a interesting choice to play the Hulk. Then again, so was Norton. Hopefully Mark can conjure the simmering rage needed to tackle a role this big. Ha!
