Though the details of her dark past are left out of the film, Black Widow makes numerous references to wiping her ledger clean. Black Widow's red in her ledger is her primary motivation in life. She lives her “redeemed life” by working for S.H.I.E.L.D. trying to work her way to salvation. As Loki points out to her in one of the movie's most detailed conversations between any characters in the film, she can never clean her ledger for the things she's done in her past.
For those who have learned in life that they are indeed sinners fallen short of the glory of God, the evil one occasionally confronts them with such similar words. Sadly, by the end of the move, Black Widow doesn't find the truth of real salvation in this film as she continues to work her way to heaven. For those who have found salvation through Jesus Christ can truly recognize the pitiful state of her existence.
