Pirates of the Caribbean to Make Movie History
Many movies are slated to come out this summer including Thor, X-Men and several others. Undoubtedly though, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and Transformers 3 are going to be the biggest draws. Pirates of the Caribbean will be the unchallenged winner though, and not because of anything that will happen this summer.
It will be because #4 is not the last installment of the saga. It's quite a feat for a major movie to have 4 movies made in the series. In fact, not many greatly successful movies have been able to accomplish this. Rocky, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings come to mind. Less successful (and less quality) franchises such as Scream, Halloween, Jaws, NIghtmare on Elm Street and a slew of others come to mind on the other end of the spectrum.
To top having 4 blockbusters in a series, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and 6 are set to be filmed back to back. That's right, there are more Pirates Movies to come for the next few years. And if the films can continue to be superbly created with interesting stories (all with Johnny Depp, of course and hopefully Geoffrey Rush), then there is no reason for this exceptional story to come to any time soon. Pirates 5 is planned to be released in 2013 and #6 will come out in 2014. I'm not looking forward to many movies this summer, but I think the Pirates of the Caribbean will definitely get me to wander into the theater, and I think the next 2 will as well.
