What's Best About “High School” is Adrian Brody
“High School,” the movie with actor Adrian Brody, reminds me of the breakout-role for Caddyshack actor, Bill Murray. Caddyshack was a 1980 American sports comedy film staring Chevy Chase, even though the scenes with Bill Murray were the show-stealers.
In Caddyshack, Murray played Carl Spackler, a greenskeeper, whose now legendary role has made the film one of the best ten films in the sports genre by the American Film Institute in 2008.
In “High School” Adrian Brody plays lawyer turned drug dealer, Psycho Ed. Perpetually in a state of paranoid-euphoria, Psycho Ed seeks to take back, by force if necessary, his pharmacological creation that is stolen by the duo of teens, Henry Burke and Breaux.
Henry Burke is the wanna-be ivy-league recruit who gets stoned with his old elementary school friend, Breaux, a seasoned stoner. After the high school principal institutes a mandatory drug testing for all students, the not-so dynamic duo bakes Psycho Ed's crystallized THC into brownies sold at the schools annual bake sale. Many of the comedic scenes are the typical repeats of a teen film.
Psycho Ed is the show-stealer of this film and makes this film worth watching just for the scenes with Adrian Brody. Without Adrian Brody's fantastic rendition of the local drug dealer, the film would have lacked comedic value throughout the entire movie. However, this film did have Psycho Ed and Brody's stoner scenes may eventually turn this film into one of the top ten stoner films of all time.
