Will the Justice League Soar?

So, it seems after years and years of discussion there will finally be the DC Comics answer to Marvel’s The AvengersJustice League. As exciting as this news is, early project details might just be telling us that this is something that we might be better off waiting for.

According to a report on Gamezone.com, Justice League will have an entirely different cannon all its own.

As we all know, last month saw the explosive end to the Batman trilogy of films in The Dark Knight Rises masterfully helmed by film director Christopher Nolan – at which we saw the teaser trailer for Man of Steel which hits theaters in the summer of 2013.

Rather than seeing the Batman that we have become familiar with and the Superman that we will get to know next year – we will see a completely different cast of characters that are in no way associated with the Batman trilogy or Man of Steel – we’ll even see different actors too!

I ask my question – what the hell’s the point?

Let’s face it; there are a lot of comic book and superhero buffs who are geeked out by this news. They’ll also be pissed off because the story behind the Justice League will have absolutely nothing to do with anything that we have already watched and have become familiar with.

Marvel seems to have gotten this right with The Avengers – the story, acting and overall quality of the film hit every chord in the best possible way. It was truly an adventure – and a marvel to watch, pardon the intentional pun. They also used this opportunity to test out the old adage that “the third time” is a charm with the Incredible Hulk. Mark Ruffalo added a dimension to the character that was not previously seen in either of the two previous reboots of the angry green giant.
