eSports Live Tournament - MLG Anaheim Day 2
The Major League Gaming eSports tournament is still kicking, and showcased some top level StarCraft 2 matches during its second day, Saturday.
Sunday is the last day of the tournament, where the winners will be proclaimed and the prizes will be awarded. However this is not the last MLG tournament of the year: MLG Raleigh is your next stop on August 26-28.
But let's get back to MLG Anaheim where amidst the highly competitive atmosphere, players still maintain their sportsmanship as shown by Gimix from ePClan. A "walk-over" win was awarded to him due to the fact that his opponent White-Ra arrived late at his gaming station. White-Ra is very well known and one of the best non-Korean Protoss Players around. That loss placed White-Ra in the lower bracket, where Gimix and him met again. According to MLG's rules if two players meet again, instead of playing a normal best of 3 match, they will play a best of 7 match with the previous wins already awarded to the winner of the first match. Like MLG put it:
"Before the start of the first game, in the pregame chat, Gimix said to White-Ra, 'let's do this the right way.'
He then proceeded to throw all his SCVs at White-Ra in the first game, and then in the second game. Obviously, he lost both games. The series is now back even at 2-2 and has essentially been reset.
Incredible manner and sportsmanship from Gimix."
Gimix wound up losing the series, but hats off to him for his incredible show of good manners and fairness.
With that said, good ol' drama doesn't lack either with IdrA making the statement, "I have been playing badly but it's good enough to win against Cruncher". Keeping good to his promise, IdrA won 2-0 against him after refusing to shake his hand on stage before the match. IdrA actually arrived second in his pool, winning 4 matches out of 5, so he's still in game.
