Let the Wookiee Win: Rovio Releases Angry Birds Star Wars
It's been a long time since Rovio premiered the first, Earth-bound edition of Angry Birds and took over fashion and toy merchandising markets. Just as interest began to wane, the franchise took to outer space and experienced a resurgence of popularity. Looks like the pig-killing game is about to go into hyperdrive.
Rovio has released the Star wars edition of Angry Birds, and according to their site, the new game shot to #1 in the iOS Apps Store within 2.5 hours - a record for the company.
In this edition, the evil green pigs don Stormtrooper helmets, and prepare for the assaults of feathered Rebel Alliance troopers with (drum roll...) light sabers!
Interstellar action becomes even more complicated with the addition of Tie Fighters, mini Death Stars and forcefields.
There's even a level that appears very much to be the precarious corridor that Obi Wan Kenobi crossed in order to shut down the Death Star's invisible protecting field of energy, filled with piggies on floating platforms.
The introduction of the Wookiee Bird means ultimate destruction. Because, after all, you have to let the Wookiee win, right?
Can you hear the music in your head yet?
