You can name your characters, customise them (although at least in the beta you can't customise the face beyond hair style and colour, eyes colour and skin colour,) and whenever you interact with an NPC they will call you with the name you chose. In other words, their "characters" are just a fancy way of saying that classes are gender locked. I will never understand why some MMOs do that because I would like to play a dual wielding warrior without having to play a bloke for example.

All in all the game feels fun and the fighting seems well thought out. It won't have much space for RP since the only areas you can share with other people are the streets and the dungeons, at least in the starting area, but I can't really fault the gameplay. Vindictus also features crafting, enhancement (enchanting) and fishing systems. You can dye your gear as well, although for some reason the developers decided that it should be completely random, so you try to dye an armour part and maybe you'll get the colour you want. Colours are also restricted and you'll see which colours you can have in the armour tooltip; you just have to keep trying until you get the desired result within those colour restrictions. This is bizarre. I have seen games slap procs on crafting, loot, et al, but never on dyes before.

If you like fighting action, dungeons and don't mind grinding, this game is for you. You will need to work to get your gear and soloing dungeons can be challenging and entertaining. Playing with friends can be a load of fun too, just make sure the one with the better connection hosts the games. If you want a game that gives more space to RP, rains armour and weapons and you don't like grinding, you might need to look elsewhere.
