Waiting for Star Wars: Release Date Announced

If you're one of the many waiting for Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) MMO, things have not been reassuring, recently: BioWare seems to have backed off their previously announced September beta, and an EA exec had a slip of the tongue and said something about the game's release date not being guaranteed.

When a gaming company starts backing off its commitments, gamers start worrying they might be looking at vaporware.

Well, all is better, now. The entire gaming community breathed a collective sigh of relief. EA and BioWare announced SWTOR will officially be released on December 20, 2011, in North America and December 22 in Europe. Subscriptions are standard fare: $14.99 a month, $13.99 for 3,  $12.99 for 6.

Gamers, you have an official date when you know the wait will finally be over.
