Scientology Spaghetti Western -Travolta and Cruise Set To Remake Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid - Page 3
Well Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was not corny to me, but a Cruise/Travolta version would be a pathetic tragedy of epic proportions.
For those who've lived in cave or are just out of touch, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid was a western/bank robber classic which hit the movie screens in 1969 and was loosely based on historical figures Robert LeRoy Parker ("Butch" Cassidy) and his outlaw buddy, Harry Longabaugh ("Sundance"). In the film, Butch and Sundance called themselves the Hole in The Wall Gang and spent much of their outrunning their bounty and robbing banks. Throw in superb acting chops and classic good looks and you have the two sexiest "most wanted" men alive.
*Triva facts*....Newman was supposed to play Sundance and Redford was supposed to play Butch. Although I don't know how that would of turned out, I probably would have I liked it just the same, considering the hunky lead parts.
Warren Beatty was rejected for the movie because he wanted to work with George Stevens on The Only Game in Town (1970). Beatty also turned down "The Sting", and we're so glad he did.
The Sundance Film Festival which founded by Robert Redford, bares his iconic character's name from the film and is also the name of Redford's Utah ski resort. Keeping with tradition and the duo's popularity, Paul Newman named a camp for seriously ill children the "Whole in the Wall Gang" camp, which he funded along with his other charitable organization a line of foods called "Newman's Own."
This movie was more than two dreamy guys robbing banks, it grossed over $100 million dollars back in the day and was the top grossing film of the year. The film won Oscars for four out of seven categories, plus oodles of other awards and it is listed among the top 100 films of all time on the AFI's listing and is consider one the greatest films ever made among film critics. IT'S JUST THAT GREAT.
So, in other words, hands off Scientology hacks!
