Album Review: Rihanna - Talk That Talk
One year after her album "Loud" and of course her recent surprise appearance with L.A. Reid on X-Factor, Rihanna drops her latest album "Talk That Talk."
Rihanna has staked her name amongst some of the hardest working superstars in the business today with 3 albums over 3 years, and a constant tour schedule. This album doesn't disappoint either. It's got the beats you love to hear, the guest appearances we all love, and of course; the darling sweetheart who shocks and awes us with some of her content if you listen closely.
Easily the best song on the album is the Calvin Harris produced "We Found Love". This has a lot in common with ‘Where Have You Been’, especially with the trance beat and dubstep breakdowns but on ‘We Found Love’ the balance is perfect. Proof that Calvin Harris is a genius? Or just that Rihanna continues to know exactly how to put things together that sound good. Who knows.
MY personal favorite track is "Cockiness." The song itself is a tad repetitive, but it's some of the lyrics that really make me grin. ‘I Want You To Be My Sex Slave’ and ‘Suck My Cockiness, Lick My Persuasion’. Sure, it's a tad out there, and probably a bit on the pornographic side, but c'mon people. Sex sells. Is it really any worse than "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but chains and whips excite me. I might be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it..."? I think not. Rihanna has always been the "sexier/edgier" version of the other female pop stars out there.
Rihanna's done it again ladies and gents. So run out and snag this gem. You won't regret it.
