Album Review: Robin Thicke - Love After War
December 6th, 2011 is going to be the conception day of the next "baby boom." At least for anyone who goes out and picks up the new Robin Thicke Album, "Love After War." Listen to this baby once through and you'll be in the bedroom in no time flat.
If you want to go back to an old school motown type feel, then listen "An Angel on Each Arm" and you'll be back in the 60's like you sat down in a time machine. Two songs later, Thicke switches it up to a fully orchestrated "Never Give Up" which makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I suppose when you've got a wife who looks like Paula Patton (in the upcoming Mission Impossible movie) it's easy to write sexy, sultry love songs as exemplified in his latest video release: the album title track "Love After War" (check out the video here).
Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Al Green (all of Thicke's self proclaimed influences) would be proud. Especially on songs like "All Tied Up." For a white boy, this kid can croon with the best of them. On the whole, the entire album is a great mix of songs that you can curl up next to your sweetheart and get things heated quickly with, as well as having just enough "radio friendly" that if you don't know him, you'll find yourself going "Huh...who was that? I need to find out who that is."
Mark my words. Baby boom. Enough said.
