Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates: Avenged Sevenfold Rocks Atlanta at Uproar Festival 2010

A press statement was released yesterday announcing that Avenged Sevenfold would be pulling out of the line-up for Australia's Soundwave Festival scheduled from Feb. 26th to March 7th, 2010.

The cancellation was confirmed in statements released on the band website, www.AvengedSevenfold.com.

Blabbermouth.net also released statements from Soundwave Festival's organizer AJ Maddah's twitter account stating that there was friction due to Avenged Sevenfold's unwillingness to perform except at night, leaving him to assume that they were expecting to have Iron Maiden moved into the mid-afternoon slot that A7X had originally committed to, while they moved into Maiden's headlining time slot. He also stated his expectation that Avenged Sevenfold would pull out of the show if the change wasn't agreed to.

From AJ Maddah's Twitter account: @iamnotshouting

"AVENGED have decided, despite having originally confirmed a mid-afternoon spot, that they are now unwilling to play unless it is night time. At the same time, they are refusing to play at the same time as MAIDEN… In other words, they want MAIDEN to play in the afternoon!

"While AVENGED are a massive band, having sold around 8,000 copies of their new album nationally, I won't be able to move MAIDEN's time slot. I have now reached the point where I can no longer mess around 70 other bands and 180,000 ticket holders to appease this band's nonsense. I have every expectation that they will go back on their agreement and cancel."

That message was soon followed by Avenged Sevenfold's statement of cancellation on their own website.

"Avenged Sevenfold regretfully announce they will not be performing at the upcoming Soundwave in Australia. After much effort, the band decided that they could not offer fans the live experience they have come to expect and didn’t want to disappoint them. Avenged Sevenfold will return to Australia soon to headline their own tour."

A message was also included in the press release from Avenged Sevenfold's lead singer M. Shadows. "We're really sorry it's not possible for us to play this show, and apologize for any inconvenience it has caused," says Shadows. "The last thing we ever want to do is disappoint our fans, and we'll be back to make it up to the Australian fans soon."

Avenged Sevenfold will still be hitting the road with Stone Sour and Hollywood Undead for their upcoming Nightmare After Christmas Tour.
