Best Band You've Never Heard of: Monks of Mellonwah
Maybe I'm a sucker for tall, dark-haired Aussies or their music is just that good. However, the Monks of Mellonwah are more than pretty faces. With Will Maher as the lead singer, Joe de La Hoyde on the backing vocals andguitar, John de la Hoyde on thebass, and Josh Baissari on the drums, the music is amazing. If you don't feel a chill go down your spine while listening to this, something is probably wrong with you.

The Sydney-based band released their second EP, Neurogenesis, last month. This modern indie/alternative rock band is quitegood. Will Maher's powerful vocals drive the music forward without overpowering everyone else. They sound similar to many bands and the mix is very interesting. Some of these bands include: The Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Young Rapscallions, Muse, Coldplay, Incubus, and The Black Keys. "Neurogenesis" features four alternative rock tracks which explore a range of concepts. From Oppenheimer and the creation of the atomic bomb in 'Neurogenesis' to the longing for life/ an ode to a lost love one in 'Neverending Spirit', their music is truly amazing. I actually fell asleep listening to them with my head phone in my ears and everything last night.

I actually made a playlist of just the Monks of Mellonwah and The Young Rapscallions. The result? Pure musical heaven! I really think that these two bands should tour together. Their music is very powerful without being "in your face" rock.
