Concert Review: Ke$ha - Get Sleazy
With three #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles under her belt from her debut album, Animal, and her first North American headlining tour completely sold out, Ke$ha is proving her title as Billboard's Hot Artist and her MTV EMA win for Best New Act--and pop music's hot new princess isn't showing any signs of letting up!
As Ke$ha tore through Atlanta on her sold out, headlining Get Sleazy tour one fact was obvious... this kid has superstar written all over her--and in glitter no less. You could see the excitement on the glittered, blue-lipped faces of the crowd that wrapped their way around the block to get dibs on the best spots on the floor for her sold out show. A local radio station came barreling through the line prior to the show with cans of glitter and spray-on hair color yelling "Glitter and Pink!!!" People jumped at the chance to have their hair sprayed, adding to the stiletto and ripped hose, Mardi Gras, atmosphere, while late-comers walked along the crowd offering to pay hundreds of dollars for a spare ticket. Of course there were no takers--no one was willing to give up their tickets for this show--no way!
The Get Sleazy tour is like the Spice Girl's "Girl Power" meets Gwen Stefani; a little raunchy, a little naughty and a hella lot of fun, but more than anything it is definitely a celebration of individuality. Ke$ha encouraged her fans to dress how they want to dress, dance how they want to dance and to be proud of who they are. Her message was simple and succinct--you only live once, make the most of every second--and fuck the haters.
With the exceptional guitar playing of her right hand man, Max, Ke$ha killed the crowd in Atlanta. Her pop diva strut alongside his hardcore metal guitar playing made the show spectacular. This is definitely one guy I'll be keeping an eye out for in the future. From pop to hardcore to hard rock, there's nothing this kid can't play. He's just a bad-ass guitarist; a feather in Ke$ha's cap, absolutely. And a blast to watch on-stage. With her hot diva attitude and his nail-your-ass-to-the-wall guitar riffs they create a mega-ton swaggering, bitch-slap pop music explosion.
