Interview: Jackyl Lead Singer Jesse James Dupree Talks... and Talks... and Talks... and BOOM!
Since the release of their first, self-titled album in 1992, Jesse James Dupree and Jackyl have been keeping the flame of classic rock and roll alive. Always hanging by a shrieking thread on the razor's edge of controversy, Jesse James Dupree has never been known for dancing with tact; he's a man who has an opinion, agree or disagree, Jesse is going to let you know exactly what he thinks.
I teased him when we talked about having a big mouth, but honestly, he's such a funny guy that I spent most of our time together laughing. He just says things that crack you up, not because what he's saying doesn't make sense or isn't true, actually quite the contrary--it's just the way that he says things.
If I were running Full Throttle Saloon I'd definitely have to get him a speaking engagement at a Tea Party convention just once--because they'd probably not have him back a second time. He speaks universal truths; it's hard to argue with the points he makes, but he speaks his truths in unspeakable ways, that's part of his charm. I imagine he'd have Sarah Palin giving him lap dances before his Tea Party evening was over. He might even write a song for her afterward--probably something to do with giving her an "Alaskan pipeline" she'll never forget.
Jesse James Dupree is not a man to fall prey to regrets. As he says in the beginning of our interview, "[I'm] just taking about as big a bite out of life as fast as I possibly can, every day." He's living life to the fullest and he's quick to dive into whatever he thinks of things that it's little wonder his show, Full Throttle Saloon, is ranking so highly. It's currently the #3 ranked show in the prime time slot and it's ranking #2 for males between the ages of 18 and 49. No matter what you hear guys saying about Jesse James Dupree and Full Throttle Saloon, one fact is undeniable, strippers, beer and bikes: they can lie all they want when their wives are in the room, but those guys are watching that show.
