Metallica Celebrates 30 Years With an All-Star Guest List and a New E.P.
For four nights Metallica raised the roof of the Fillmore Theater in San Francisco, CA in a star-studded, 30 year anniversary celebration exclusively for members of their official fan club, the Metallica Club.
Each night's performance featured a different group of musical guests including Apocalyptica, Armored Saint, Geezer Butler, John Bush, Bif Byford, Jerry Cantrell, Nick "Animal" Culmer, Glenn Danzig, Death Angel, King Diamond, Diamond Head, Marianne Faithfull, Lloyd Grant, Rob Halford, Ray Haller, Pepper Keenan, Kid Rock, Laaz Rockit, John Marshall, Jim Martin, Mercyful Fate, Ron McGovney, Dave Mustaine, Jason Newsted, Ozzy Osbourne, Rebel Souls Brass Band, Lou Reed, Bob Rock, Gary Rossington, and Hugh Tanner.
Each performance also featured an entirely unique set list with the only repeat being the show's final number "Seek and Destroy," during which Metallica was joined on stage by all of their guests for that night's show.
The celebration at the Fillmore wrapped with a cryptic message from Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich to watch for news coming in mid-January, 2012 about something very special coming in June.
Along with the live performances Metallica has also released a new E.P., Beyond Magnetic, which was made available exclusively on iTunes for one week before going to digital retailers world wide.
The four tracks on the Beyond Magnetic E.P. were recorded during the Death Magnetic recording sessions and will be released in their raw form. These tracks previously were available only to fan club members.
Beyond Magnetic E.P. Tracklist:
1. Hate Train
2. Just A Bullet Away
3. Hell And Back
4. Rebel Of Babylon
