Nick Ashford of the singing duo Ashford & Simpson has just died at age 70.

From the era when music was music and talent was necessary. Nick Ashford brought us songs and sounds that can never be duplicated but are often imitated.

Real life couple Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson formed Ashford and Simpson, one of Mowtown’s greatest. They hit the scene in 1964.

From “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” to “You’re All I Need to Get By,” and “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing Baby” Ashford and Simpson were a Motown sensation.

The duo had massive successes as writers, producers and performers. They truly knew what people wanted to hear.

Recently, Ashford had been diagnosed with throat cancer and was undergoing radiation therapy.

Ashford & Simpson dawn from an era where there was no autotune necessary to sound good. Nick was an immensely talented performer and writer.

Although Nick Ashford will be missed, he will live on through the raw talent he possessed. Generations to come will be able to listen and realize what real music once sounded like.
