One Way State: A Canandian Breeze Of Alternative Rock

One Way State is a straight-shooting, sensible prairie power to scratch that musical itch you didn't know you had. New record "The Right Time" shows both franticness and maturity in its genetic makeup. A raw, gritty sound and intelligent pop overtones with an intense and frenetic live show...ready to set fire to the stage.
The Edmonton-based band, One Way State, is a force to be reckoned with. They are an eclectic mix of Alternative, Rock, and Pop/Rock. If you like Third Eye Blind, Matthew Good Band, Hey Rosetta, The Foo Fighters, and Radiohead, you are sure to love them! Cody Mack takes control of the lead vocals. Nick Moir is responsible for the marriage of the guitars and vocals, while Charley Jeske keeps the beat going on the drums and Brandon Tomas holds down the rockin' for with the bass.
Their accolades are endless. With four tours across Western Canada since November 2010, the band started with a bang! After being nominated for two Edmonton Music Awards (Best Live Act, Artist To Watch) in 2011 and 2012, respectively, they participated in two Sonic 102.9 Band of the Month Showcases, opened for iLLScarlett in 2010, and Steven Page (Barenaked Ladies) in 2012.
"Cycle" has a nice beat and sounds a lot like The Foo Fighters. It has a cool, collected sound in general. It reminds me of adult alternative from the late nineties. "Rust" is much more mellow and calm. However, the vocals decide to come out to play later on in the track, thus lending themselves to a much more powerful sound.
Their CD, "The Right Time", dropped back in April and is a CD worth listening to in the waning summer days!
