The Best Band You've Never Heard Of: Crunk Witch

I was first introduced to Crunk Witch on accident: it was a late night and, like most college students, I had been procrastinating on doing my laundry. Out of all the laundromats near my apartment, only one was opened: a strange place that was a strange mixture of a bar, music venue, and laundromat called The Soapbox Laundro-Lounge. Most nights, there is at least one band playing and the drinks are always flowing. It is truly the only place I know of where you can drink, do your laundry, and listen to good music sans Ipod. Little did I know that an amazing band would be at the Soapbox Laundro-Lounge in Wilmington, North Carolina, that night. Needless to say, that band was Crunk Witch. Little did I know that I would be able to hear this band while I was doing my laundry. I was very lucky and privileged to get a free show!
The Presque Isle, Maine, duo puts on an amazing show! Crunk Witch is a husband and wife team made up of Brandon Miles (vocalist) and Hannah Colleen (DJ, Production). Every song is unique and interesting. They sound like a mix of Marilyn Manson, Skrillex, and something unique that I honestly can't put my finger on. The music of Crunk Witch is truly a mixture of jazz, post-metal, electronic, pop, punk, and dance music. I have heard absolutely nothing like it in my life. Their two albums are "The Legends of Manicorn" and "Faith in the Thief".
They have been around since 2009 and won the "Best Electronic Act" at the 2011 Phoenix Awards. Their next show will be at Duffy's Tavern in Lincoln, Nebraska. Be sure to check them out!
