The Superions - Destination Christmas Is Not for the Timid

It’s just a few more days to that most horrible day of the year. No, not Halloween, and not Cabbage Night. I’m talkin’ November 1 here. Without a doubt, the Christmas music will be pumping on November 1.

Be honest, how many versions do we need of “Silent Night” and “Jingle Bells”? It’s not just that they are old standards, they are stale old standards. If only...if only...if only Fred Schneider would resurrect that great B-52s sound for a Christmas album. What? He has?

Yes, boys and girls, Fred Schneider, Noah Brodie, and Dan Marshall (as The Superions) have breathed new life into Christmas. Admittedly it’s a bit of a twisted life, and it’s definitely not for the kiddies or Gramps if he’s a member of the Moral Majority.

Destination...Christmas! is a collection of holiday tunes like you have never heard before. Some are sexy (“Jingle Those Bells,” “Under the Tree,” “Santa Je T’aime”), some are ironic (“Chillin’ at Christmas,” “Crummy Christmas Tree,” “Tears at Christmas”), and some are just plain warped (“Teddy and Betty Yeti,” “Laughter at Christmas,” "Santa's Disco"). For those who want something different this holiday season, and particularly those who loved The B52s, Destination...Christmas! puts a welcome spin on holiday music.

Bottom Line: Would I buy Destination...Christmas!? Yes! I need a break from the same old stuff every Christmas; too bad they won’t be playing this one at Macy’s.
