When Age Can't Stop Rock and Roll
Just yesterday in a Soapbox Musings post, I questioned whether or not aging rockers Aerosmith and J. Geils band could still get it done. My premise was that both bands have had their ups and downs, appearing to head off towards retirement versus big stadiums and ancient ballparks, i.e . Fenway Park,
Boy, was I wrong. Absolutely, 100% wrong.
J. Geils rocked as if they were a band on a global tour, despite not being together anymore. The band, according to the Boston Globe's great review of the show, does shows from time to time.
Peter Wolf electrified the audience with his "whammah jammah" style. The band sounded great and they played just about all their hits. They were the perfect set-up for the headliner, Aerosmith.
Steve Tyler, Joe Perry and crew were amazing. There were a couple of slow parts to the show, during the middle, but on a scale of 1-10, the bad boys from Boston were an 11.
The evening came to a bursting finish when Steve Tyler played "Dream On" on the piano, while sitting perched on the top of the Green Monster.
