It’s been awhile since we’ve heard about Charlie Sheen in the news, hasn’t it? Oh, we were all there standing on the sidelines for many months, gawking and guffawing at the spectacle of Sheen threatening to quit (then getting fired from) the hit show “Two and a Half Men,” trying to make a living hocking goodies online with catchy “tiger’s blood” and “winning” related phrases, and finally launching a soon-failed self-aggrandizing comedy concert series.

We watched in dumb-strucked awe as Sheen’s personal relationships didn’t fare much better, learning about Sheen living (and sleeping) with his two “goddesses,” then hearing the news that one of his damsels dumped him via text-message, the other practically gnawing her leg off to get out from under Sheen’s sinking personal ship.

It would appear, however, that the former host of the failed Torpedo of Truth Tour just might have a glimmer of a comeback ahead of him, in the form a new sitcom called “Anger Management.” According to Access Hollywood, Sheen has landed the starring role in a sitcom based on the 2003 movie of the same name.

In a somewhat tongue-in-cheek press release, Sheen said he chose this role because “it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues.” Sheen also stated that he is looking forward to the project because it give shim “real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control.” One of Sheen’s cited reasons for having issues with “Two and a Half Men” was creative differences with producer Chuck Lorre.

Sheen’s new boss, producer Joe Roth, is excited about the show. “With Charlie’s incredible talent and comedic gifts, he remains the leading man of TV sitcoms,” said Roth.

After such a bumpy ride, do you think Sheen deserves another chance? Will you likely watch the new show and see what all of the fuss is about?
