KidVid: Are You Ready for Some Wubbzy How about The Best of…?
Anchor Bay Entertainment releases Best of Wubbzy – Fans’ Choice Volume 1 on DVD September 18, 2012, and what makes this home video special is that fans of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! were given the opportunity to vote on which episodes should be included in the compilation by voting on Facebook (hmmm…do you think we’ll be able to do that in November? With the campaigns going the way there are, I just might vote for Wubbzy…or do you think he’s too square?).
Erin Carter, Executive Director of Brand Marketing for Anchor Bay Entertainment tells us, “Tapping into Wubbzy’s active and devoted social media following allowed us to give fans a chance to tell us which episodes they most wanted on our newest release.” Wubbzy fans had over a month to vote and are rewarded with a DVD-ful of titles they selected.
The seven episodes elected to appear on Best of Wubbzy - Fans Choice’ Volume 1 are “Follow the Leader,” “The Wubbzy Shuffle,” “Wubbzy the Star,” “Tooth or Dare,” “Wubbzy’s Makeover,” “Wubbzy Bounces Back,” and “Wubbzy the Hero.” Featuring plenty of singing, dancing, and fun, the collection supports social skills and values development—Widget even builds a robot to teach a lesson about cheating. Baby birds and a substitute Tooth Fairy visit Wubbzy and his gang (any more would be a plot spoiler), the town of Wuzzleburg is in a dilemma over a dinosaur game, and everyone is infected with spring fever on the first day of spring.
Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! can be seen daily on Nick Jr. Who could resist a sort-of geometric cast in stories that support sharing, listening, compromising, helping and appreciating others, self-awareness, and coping with humor? Wubbzy and his pals deal with the same issues facing preschoolers, and they learn how they fit into a group, understanding and respecting their own and others’ feelings, how to get along with others, and the value of friendship and community.
