Mark Zuckerberg Makes Surprise Appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Viewers of Saturday Night Live were seeing triple Jan. 29.
There was host Jesse Eisenberg, who played Facebook honcho Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network. Then there was cast member Andy Samberg, who was portraying Zuckerberg in the show’s opening number. Then there was the real Mark Zuckerberg, who joined Eisenberg and Samberg on stage.
“Those guys are such nerds – I invented poking,” Zuckerberg said backstage with Lorne Michaels, executive producer of SNL, while watching Eisenberg and Samberg on a monitor.
Zuckerberg’s brief appearance was a genius – and surprise – turn. Zuckerberg handled himself well, particularly since the Facebook guru wasn’t exactly wild about The Social Network and had never met Eisenberg.
While Zuckerberg probably won’t be hosting SNL based on his guest appearance, he did prove that he’s got a sense of humor and that he can poke fun at himself. Of course, Zuckerberg is the one who’s laughing all the way to the bank, so he can afford to joke around at his own expense.
