Rosie O'Donnell Talks About The Rosie Show
Rosie O’Donnell is back on the talk show circuit and television is all the richer for it. The Rosie Show premieres tonight on the OWN Network at 7/6c.
Rosie had a conference call to answer questions about all the excitement of her new show. Needless to say, Rosie’s energy and sense of humor made an already interesting and must-see new talk show even more exciting.
Rosie’s first guest will be the hilarious comedian Russell Brand.
In addressing the writers on the call, Rosie discussed the format of the show and what she hopes to achieve with the program.
Rosie talked to all of the writers on the conference call and answered each of our questions regarding parenting and the challenges of the television talk show circuit past and present.
“My biggest challenge is, I think, is to just be authentic,” Rosie said, “I think for every human being, no matter what your job is, and it’s sometimes hard when showbiz is so full of pretense that to remain your authentic self is difficult while you’re being recorded.”
Rosie discussed how motivated she is to do more human stories and social issues versus her daytime show in the 90’s and other shows in the current talk show landscape today.
“We’re going to do social issues by telling human stories one at a time.”
The name Dick Cavett is mentioned by Rosie in discussing her desired format. Cavett is obviously a hero in the talk show circuit and was of great inspiration to Rosie.
“I think we’re over-saturated with pop culture and with image,” she said, “We really want some more of the gritty underbelly, as opposed to polished veneer, and that’s what we’re going for on this show --Just real conversation more in the style of Dick Cavett than a Charlie Rose, but with humor.”Continued on the next page
