Russia's Shame: Sore Loser Plushenko Makes Up New Medal Category

PlushenkoWhat a whiny little bitch Evgeni Plushenko's turned out to be. After winning silver (or, in his mind, losing gold) in Vancouver to the gracious and cheerful Evan Lysacek in men's figure skating, he's now decided to award himself the PLATINUM medal. As if.

On Plushenko's official website, where he continues to sport that tragic 2010 mullet, is an image of Plushenko and three medals shown below, labeled as: Silver of Salt Lake, Gold of Torino, Platinum of Vancouver. See what he did there? I've babysat toddlers with more control over their wee wittle feelings. Someone needs a lolly and a diaper changing I'd say.

If this was the worst of Plushenko's 5-day temper tantrum, I'd just shrug it off as sour grapes, but this is bordering on pathological. DUDE, you didn't get gold, you weren't deemed worthy, now SUCK IT UP and be a man.

And herein lies the problem: from the beginning of the Olympics and the build up to the men's figure skating finals, Plushenko's been trying way too hard to prove what a manly man he is. Quads this, triple toes that. It's friggin' figure skating, it's not meant to be viewed as the most masculine of sports. Clearly Plushenko is feeling a bit emasculated by his fellow skaters, the general perception of men's figure skating, and ultimately his loss to a guy who is not only more handsome than he is, but quite a bit more metro as well.

It's like Plushenko is suffering from some kind of small medal syndrome and is trying any way he can to make up for the virility of his, ahem, medal.  Even funnier than the medal claim is a poll on the site which participants are asked to rank the best figure skater.  Check it out:
