Staring into the Emmy Crystal Ball Part 2
Last week, we covered the Emmy nominations for Best Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama, and Lead Actress in a Drama. Today, we are going to lighten the mood and cover the nominations in the comedy categories.
Outstanding Comedy Series: The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Modern Family, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock
Who is Going to Win: Modern Family- What a fantastic show. The actors hit all the right notes, and the stories are woven together brilliantly by their writers. I don’t have an interesting take on the show, mainly because I have nothing but the same superlatives everyone has for the show.
Who Should Win: Modern Family- Hey, sometimes the Emmy guys get it right.
Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series: Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock, Louis C.K., Louie, Steve Carrell, The Office, Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory, Matt LeBlanc, Episodes, Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory
Who is Going to Win: Alec Baldwin- Baldwin is exactly what Emmy voters dream of at night. Handsome, charismatic, and a popular name that people respect. At the very least, you have to appreciate the man’s twitter account. It is tough to argue with the man who tweets poetic things like “On a more All-American, I-Love-a-Good-Time kind of note, Fort Lauderdale is cool.” (You’re welcome, Fort Lauderdale).
Who Should Win: Louis C.K.- Louis’s show does not appeal to everyone, which is why he will never win this award. The man is too dark, vulgar, ugly, etc. for most people. However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been the outstanding male comedic performer of the year. Call him crude, but find the intelligence in his humor. Call him vulgar, but appreciate the larger purpose behind that vulgarity. The man is a very good comedian, and he has the best year out of this group.Continued on the next page
