DESCRIPTION;CHARSET=UTF-8:The first in our 2008/09 series of IP lunchtime seminars. \n\nMaclay, Murray and Spens in conjunction with Murgitroyds will deliver a workshop on the Why's and Wherefore's of patenting software. \n\nThe key areas that will be examined in this workshop include - what kind of rights a patent gives you, why patenting is right for some companies but not for others, i.e. when is it worth patenting; why investors love them; using patents in negotiations with big companies etc, extent to which software can be patented - contrast in UK / US approach and how this might influence strategy, when to file, strategy and process e.g. use of provisional applications; staging costs etc, importance of well drafted patents and interaction with open standards. \n\nIf you would like to attend this event or receive more information please email forums@innovationcentre.org\n\n
