Comment on I'll have my baby with a side of placenta by B
http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2009/04/16/ill-have-my-ba...in response to "Josh" Placenta Encapsulation is actually a traditional Chinese Medicine and has been in practice for a really long time. TCM use's placenta to treat lactation and fatigue, which we know to be a pre cursor to postpartum depression. There are some minimal studies done on the effects of breastfeeding and lactation,

Comment on Inner Sunset Farmers Market, San Francisco by paul
http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2009/06/14/inner-sunset-f...Troll — you are not very polite. I do not agree with a lot of what Brian concludes, but his points are valid. In his experience, parking and traffic is worse on Sundays. I think the farmers' market has very little impact there — the major change in traffic on weekends happened with the reopening of the Academy of Sciences,

Fourth of July Recipes
http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/fourth-of-july-recipes-...I hope all of you have a great holiday weekend. I thought it might be helpful to dust off a few Fourth of July-friendly recipes from the archives and highlight them here. I did my best to keep the list relatively short and sweet - just favorites. Fourth of July Roasted Tomato Salsa - A deliciously vibrant, earthy,

Comment on The intern reveals his knife collection. What about yours? by Chef Apprentice
http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2009/06/29/the-intern-rev...Thanks Beth for the catch on "Hood." I've been to Hood River, so I don't know why I let that one slip by me. That has since been corrected. Linda, I have tried the MAC knives. They are excellent. Several chefs at Oliveto own them. I may one day add one to my collection. Brian offers good advice above on the need to try out several different

l'Opéra: Chocolate Milkshake with Coffee & Almond
http://www.davidlebovitz.com/archives/2009/07/lopera_chocola...If you're thinking that you've been 'set up' by the previous post for Chocolate Sherbet , je suis coupable. (I am guilty.) You likely know Adam Ried as the man who obsessively tests equipment and recipes on American's Test Kitchen . He was also an editor at Cook's Illustrated for ten years. So when I saw his new book devoted to milkshakes,

Comment on Inner Sunset Farmers Market, San Francisco by Andrew
http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2009/06/14/inner-sunset-f...As a rabid fan of Art's Cafe (in front of this parking lot), I sincerely appreciate this farmers market for holding the lot for me to roll in around 2PM for a leisurely lunch (with free parking!). For the market itself: I'm glad it's there but I can see how it might be frustrating for very local residents. That whole area is a nightmare for

Comment on The intern reveals his knife collection. What about yours? by Brian
http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2009/06/29/the-intern-rev...Try as many different knives as you can get your hands on, because one person's favorite knife is unlikely to be yours. I love the bird's beak paring knife, I probably use it more than my 7″ Japanese utility knife, which I use much more than my full-on chef's knife.
