A Wedding or a Funeral?

Once a resident of the dreary city of Indianapolis, I can tell you that there is a certain thing about the city that always reminded me of death. However, weddings were never one of them.

Due to their lower prices, funeral homes have begun hosting weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, and proms in Indianapolis! Despite caskets and urns being nonchalantly showcased, thousands of gravestones adorning the premises, funeral homes are becoming a venue for weddings. Apparently,  many brides do not seem to mind!

The Community Life Center at the Washington Park East Cemetery is home to this unusual trend. Strangely enough, it is not the only place where this phenomenon is occurring. With increased competition, and in a sluggish economy the trend is helping their business.

Although odd, many funeral homes are very clean and beautiful inside, so, the possibility of hosting a variety of events does makes sense. Most brides would probably scoff at the thought of a casket or urn at their reception,  although apparently some don't seem to mind. While enough flowers could cover up the surround "decor,"  just knowing that it is there could prove disturbing for some. Would you want your wedding guest to be... a corpse?
