Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver Announce Separation
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have announced their separation after a 25-year marriage. The couple has released a joint statement saying, "After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship."
Since his departure from the California governorship, Schwarzenegger has been seen jetting around the world sans his wife, leaving Shriver to post a YouTube video to her supporters postulating about moving on to the next stage of her life. Through the years, there has been speculation regarding Schwarzenegger’s wandering eye, and his reputation as a ’womanizer. A leading Hollywood publicist recently spoke openly on Fox 11 news about Schwarzenegger’s wandering eye, busting the terminator for always having a lot of “lady friends, so to speak.”
Shriver, who has presided over the state’s annual California Governor’s Conference on Women and Families, drawing huge corporate sponsors, and tens of thousands women attendees, has long had opposing political views from her husband, openly endorsing Obama while Schwarzenegger supported John McCain. Schwarzenegger has expressed an interest in returning to the Hollywood scene and a career in acting.
The couple, who were introduced by Tom Brokaw in 1977, and married in 1986, have four children, ages 14, 18, 20 and 21.
