As For the Mayan Calendar, December 21, 2012, Is Not the End
Supposedly, on December 21, 2012--that's just a few days from the date of this post--something terrible is going to happen to the earth. Some even go as far as saying that we will not survive the events of that day.
Of course, there is always some end-of-the-world prediction going around. Perhaps you remember last year when Mr. Harold Camping, a Christian radio broadcaster and president of Family Stations, Inc. insisted that the end of the world would begin on May 21, 2011, and that the ultimate end would occur in October 2011. Faithful followers took to the streets and to other parts of the country to warn us to prepare for the end. Of course, those dates came and went without incident.
So here we go again. December 21, 2012, marks the end of the 5125-year, "Long Count" Mayan Calendar. It is not known exactly what will happen on that day. Scientists think solar flares and radiation are possibilities. Some predictions are much more extreme--like the end of human life. Accordingly, a growing number of people are taking no chances. For some, panic buying has already begun, and this activity will probably increase during the coming days. There are even reports of some people buying underground survival shelters in hopes of surviving.
OK, perhaps something will happen on December 21st. The Bible does declare that before the end of this current age we will see, "Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken" (Luke 21:26). And I think most of you will agree that we have had some horrific events during the past several years. So, it's not out of the question that something strange, maybe even something real bad, will happen on December 21st.Continued on the next page
