Be the Change
"Be the change."
Mahatma Gandhi said it best and his words are wise ones to live by. However, what do his words truly mean, specifically to me?
Be the change means to model your message for others. I have come to understand more and more in my lifetime what power that holds for those whom I encounter.
For me to make strong, lasting changes in my life, in how I interact with others and go toward my dreams, it can create inspiration for others. As I create change in my own world by confessing wrongs from the past, by letting go of behaviors in myself that are harmful to my relationships, I can inspire others to do the same.
I have often in my life walked to the beat of a different drummer. At times, that has felt isolated and alone; it has felt like I am unusual compared to others who seemed so much more “normal” than myself. However, I now design my life differently than that. My different beat only enhances my unique qualities, my ability to truly be myself in the world, and to stand up firmly and assertively for what I believe in and stand for.
What the most important aspect for me however, of being the change that I want to see around me, is the fact that my heart is opening up more and more each day. With each change that I create in my life, and model for others, I feel more loving, more honest and transparent, more free! And, through all of my years of attempting to connect with the bigger world around me, the closer I get to who I truly am, the closer I get to touching the world. As I continue to be this change, the more that my world shifts, grows and changes along with it!
It is truly an amazing journey, this thing called life, and it is here for all of us!
