Can Old People Learn Anything From The Young?
ALTHOUGH THE YOUNG MAY lack life experience, they possess something equally important, which many older people have long since lost. So if these old fools wish to regain that youthful spring in their step, they need to observe the young rather than belittle them.
You see, every man travels down his life path at his own pace. Some walk, some run, some take frequent breaks—but as one moves further down the road, he will soon develop the temptation to look back over his shoulder and survey the scenery behind him.
While there is no harm in occasional nostalgia, danger lurks in the distance, for if a man spends too much time looking back at everything he has already passed, he will not be able to focus on what lies ahead in the future.
Unfortunately, this is exactly what happens to many people as they age. To combat this timeless problem, young people—who rarely suffer from this chronic condition—should be studied and emulated. Though an old fool will object that he has nothing of value to learn from his juniors, let us remind him that young people are sunny optimists, always looking forward to making the next day better than the last, charging fearlessly into the future and striving for excellence.
Old fools would be wise to take notes...
